Resident Evil 9: Requiem Gets Official Release Date and First Look at Story

Capcom has confirmed the development of Resident Evil 9: Requiem which will be a key title in the franchise’s survival horror series. Fans witnessed the game’s first cinematic trailer during Summer Game Fest 2025 which was when the reveal took place. Besides, Capcom shared that the game Resident Evil 9: Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026. The game will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players.

The teaser begins showing the office of the FBI, where viewers are introduced to the game’s hero, Grace Ashcroft. An FBI agent named Grace gets pulled into an unusual and hazardous investigation about a hotel. There have been several deaths in this area and Otis finds herself haunted by her mother’s mystery death eight years in the past. With each moment in the trailer, the environment gets more disturbing, letting us know the new game could be one of the most seriously charged in the series.

While the setting for the game is Raccoon City, it will be remembered in a different way. Requiem guarantees a new take on the original city, focusing mostly on emptiness and silent tension. The city’s main buildings will make a comeback in the remake, but the story will give them a creepier and more thrilling atmosphere.

Capcom stated that Resident Evil 4 is being built using the latest RE Engine and this means even more realistic looking graphics, movements and scenery. The new engine is designed to enhance the feeling of fear, making the player focus more on searching, solving difficult problems and confronting mental situations.

Resident Evil 9: Requiem keeps the series’ unfolding story going after what happened in Resident Evil Village, but with a new character and tale to tell. Because so many people are eager for Resident Evil 8, the team is set to continue the tradition of the series and ramp up the horror.

The details of the gameplay are set to be revealed soon which is expected to excite fans before its release in early 2026.
